Gothic fashion is a dark reflection on the Victorian Era. Visually created from basic black and deep reds and blues, clothing is either plain or elaborately decorated with lace and brocades. Materials revolve around velvets and flat cottons. Accessories are usually the completion to a Gothic outfit. Often chokers, non-metal necklaces and wrist wear are the choice for the finishing touches.

Instructions

  1. Simple Lace Choker

    • 1

Measure around your neck and add 1 inch.

    • 2

Purchase wide black lace using your measurements and a set of snaps from a craft store.

    • 3

Measure 1/2 inch from one end of the lace and sew on your top snap. Measure 1/2 inch from the opposite end and sew on the bottom part of the snap.

    • 4

Place the lace around your neck and snap in place.

    Simple Wrist Band

    • 5

Purchase a large, fabric-covered hair band that will fit snugly on your wrist without cutting off the circulation. Purchase a spool of extra-narrow black ribbon.

    • 6

Cut short pieces of ribbon and begin tying them around the hair band. Place them side by side. You may tie bows or simple knots leaving bits of ribbon hanging from the band.

    • 7

Go completely around the band until none of the hair band is showing. Wear as a wrist piece.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can accessorize either project by using hot glue to attach tiny black beads.

  • Don't make either piece too small, as either can cut off the circulation in your neck or wrist and be uncomfortable.
