How To Create a Logo in Photoshop CS3
When businesses need graphics for their company, they will often turn to an outside freelancer to create these graphics for them. One example of this would be the production of a new company logo. But while this is an easy option for a large corporation, a start-up or small business might need to create its own logo. This might seem like a rather daunting proposition, but if you have access to Photoshop, you can quickly make a quality logo for your business yourself.

1
Sketch out your ideas for your logo on paper using colored markers. Limit the use of colors to only two or three, since this makes the image easier for the customers to recognize. If you want to add an image to the logo design, you will have to load it onto your computer.

2
Open Photoshop. Select “File” and click “New.” In the dialog box that opens, set the pixel width and height that you want for your logo. If the logo is going to be printed, change the resolution to 300 pixels per inch. Click “OK.”

Select the “Pen” tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top, change the fill to “Shape” and choose the color that you want as the primary color of your image. Now use the tool to draw the outline of your graphic by clicking several times on the canvas. Click again on the first point to close the shape. If you want any openings in the shape, change the option at the top to “Subtract” and make the selection of the area to remove.

Click the “New Layer” icon at the bottom of the “Layers” panel. Change the color of the “Pen” tool fill, turn off “Subtract” and use the tool to draw in further details on your logo.
