How to Make a Sun Visor
Bright sunlight can burn skin and hamper vision. Sunglasses are often not practical for children, and they may find a hat too hot. Help kids keep the sun out of their eyes and off their faces by making sun visors. Aside from their practicality, sun visors are a craft project suitable for summer camps or for groups of children preparing for end-of-the-year field trips.
Instructions
-
-
1
Trace a paper plate onto a piece of craft foam and use scissors to cut along the lines.
-
2
Cut the circular piece of craft foam into a crescent-shaped half moon.
-
-
3
Decorate the top of the visor with markers. Let your child draw anything on the top the visor he wishes. Add stick-on jewels or any other embellishments.
-
4
Punch a hole in both ends of the visor at the points of the moon shape, about 1 inch in from the tips of the points.
-
5
Tie a foot-long piece of ribbon through each hole. Tie the ends of the ribbon behind the child's head to hold her visor in place.

Tips & Warnings
If using the visors on a field trip, tell children not to write their names on the outside of their visors--to avoid children going off with strangers whom they mistakenly think know their names.
