Baby shoes are easy to make.

Baby shoes or booties are a cute and fun way to keep your baby's feet nice and warm. However, it may seem like a waste of money to buy baby shoes that will soon be too small for the baby to wear. Luckily, it is incredibly easy to make a homemade pair of felt baby shoes. Any amateur seamstress with the proper materials can make an inexpensive pair of felt baby booties in practically no time at all. Plus, when your baby outgrows the shoes, it's simple to make a new pair for her.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out an oval of felt that is about a quarter inch wider and longer than the baby's foot. This will be the sole of the shoe.

    • 2

Cut out two rectangles of fabric that are each 1 1/2 inches wide and as long as the sole of the shoe. These will form the sides of the shoe.

    • 3

Sew one of the long edges of each side piece onto each long edge of the sole of the shoe.

    • 4

Cut two semi-circular pieces of felt that are each 2 inches wide at the bottom and 2 inches tall in the middle. These will form the heel and the toe of the shoe.

    • 5

Sew one of the semi-circles of felt onto the front of the sole of the shoe, matching the curved edge of the semi circle with the curved edge of the sole.

    • 6

Sew the sides of the toe of the shoe onto the side pieces of the shoe where they overlap.

    • 7

Sew the flat edge of the other semi circular piece of felt to the back of the sole of the shoe to form the the heel.

    • 8

Sew the sides of the heel of the shoe onto the side pieces of the shoe where they overlap.

    • 9

Cut a piece of elastic that is 1 1/2 inches long. Sew the ends of the elastic piece to either side of the shoe so that the elastic forms a tight band over the top of the shoe.

    • 10

Turn the shoe right side out. Repeat the process for the other shoe.
