How to Make a Ghost Image of a Flash Drive
The Symantec Corporation produces the data-backup utility Norton Ghost for use in the home or at work. When creating a backup of your computer's hard drive or a separate storage medium such as a flash drive, the process is referred to as making a Ghost Image of the drive. Norton Ghost lets you choose the source drive of the files to backup which allowing tailored data backups to be created in the event of future need.

Launch the Norton Ghost utility by selecting the program icon from the "Program Files" sub-menu located by choosing your computer's "Start" menu or by choosing the desktop icon.

Click the "Ctrl + B" keys at the same time after the application launches to load the basic Ghost menu. Select the "Tasks" and "Disk Image" menu choices. Choose the storage destination for the Ghost Image you are creating for your flash drive using the program's file chooser. Do not pick the same drive letter as the flash drive you are backing up.

Insert a blank DVD/CD-R/RW or portable storage media to save your flash drive image. Click the "Next" menu button after you choose the drive with the media inserted into your computer.

Choose the flash drive that you desire to back up using the Norton Ghost utility file chooser. Choose the Next menu option. Select the storage location for the Ghost image using the file chooser utility and the Next menu button.

Click the "Create Disk Image" menu button and the Norton Ghost Image of the flash drive will be created.
