How to Glue Laminate Floor Trim

Laminate floor trim helps hide the uneven cuts and the space required between the laminate flooring and your baseboards. Laminate flooring requires a 5/16-inch gap between the flooring and the wall when you install it. Because of the material it's made of, your laminate flooring can expand and contract as temperatures rise and fall. If your floor expands too much, it could hit the wall and buckle. Allowing space for the floor to move as needed helps ensure your floor will last for years to come, and you can glue laminate floor trim in place to hide that gap.

• Glue
• Laminate floor trim

Instructions

1. Run a bead of glue across the back of your laminate wood flooring trim. Use glue all the way across the trim piece to help ensure it will stay in place.

2. Apply the glued edge of your trim to the baseboard. Make sure you glue your trim to the baseboard, not the laminate flooring. If you have a long piece of trim, it may take two people to hold the trim to the baseboard until the glue adheres enough for you to let go.

3. Allow the glued laminate flooring trim to dry 12 hours before you walk on the floor.
