3
Launder washable silk garments separately, because the color may fade. Wash the garment in mild soap and water, and rinse thoroughly. You can also wash silk in a machine on gentle cycle, but don't put the silk garment in a dryer. Roll the damp garment in a soft white towel to remove water and never twist or wring the garment. When the excess water is removed, hang the garment on a padded hanger.

4
Press silk garments on the wrong side, using a warm iron. Use steam only if you're absolutely sure the iron won't spit, which can cause water spots on the fabric.

5
Pre-shrink silk fabric before sewing, because silk can shrink, even if it's dry-cleaned. Put the fabric in a tub filled with warm water and mild detergent. Swish the fabric in the soapy water for a few minutes, rubbing gently. Rinse the silk in warm water and roll it in a white towel to dry, then press it with an iron on low heat. Store silk fabric where it won't be exposed to heat or sunlight.
