How to Make Cookie Cutters From Cardboard

When you're in a pinch for cookie cutters, making your own from cardboard can be a fun, inexpensive alternative to making a trip to the store and buying them. Additionally, if you want a custom shape, cardboard cookie cutters are often much easier to make yourself than finding the shape in metal or plastic store-bought cookie cutters. However, be aware that you may only be able to use cookie cutters from cardboard 2 or 3 times before you will need to make more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Thin cardboard (i.e., from cereal boxes, gift boxes, shirt inserts, etc.)
• Masking tape
• Scissors
• Paper
• Marker

1. Draw the desired shape of the cookie cutter onto a piece of paper, making thick lines.

2. Cut thin cardboard into 1 1/2 inch strips at the longest length possible.

3. Bend the cardboard into the desired shape, following the paper pattern you drew. Tape additional strips of cardboard together as needed. When finished, you should be able to set the cookie cutter on top of the pattern and the lines should match up.

4. Tape the ends of the cardboard strips together to make the cookie cutter a complete shape, then use your cookie cutters with the desired dough.
