How to Make a Crepe Paper Pineapple

Save

If you are planning a Hawaiian themed party for your next celebration or class project, you will have to make a replica of the most delicious Hawaiian fruit--the pineapple. There are several ways that you can use crepe paper (the thin, wrinkly tissue paper used for streamers) to form a model of the fruit.

Things You'll Need

  • Brown, yellow and green crepe paper
  • Medium sized balloons
  • Construction paper
  • Clear or white glue
  • Decide whether you want a 2-D or 3-D pineapple. Your luau needs all kinds of exciting decorations. Make two-dimensional pictures of pineapples to hang on the walls or three-dimensional pineapples that can serve as centerpieces or mantle decorations.

  • Create a two-dimensional image of a pineapple. Trace the shape of the fruit onto a piece of construction paper. Cut the yellow and brown crepe paper into 3-inch long strips. Roll each strip loosely in your hands to form a ball. Fill in the pineapple shape by gluing on two-thirds brown crepe paper balls and one-third yellow crepe paper balls.

  • Create a three-dimensional crepe paper pineapple. Inflate a party balloon until it is roughly the oblong shape and size of a pineapple. Repeat the process in Step 2 for crinkling and rolling the brown and yellow crepe paper to form the rough exterior of the pineapple. Carefully glue these paper balls onto the surface of the balloon until it is completely covered.

  • Create the leaves for both kinds of pineapples. Cut strips of green crepe paper and glue them to the top of the pineapple shape where they can drape over the fruit.
