Keeping food hot at the table is a very old problem and it is a serious factor that contributes to the problem of OBESITY, but how can I say that, WHY? Because we eat too fast so that our food does not get cold and eating fast causes over eating, again WHY? Because it takes our brain about 20 minutes to sense that we are not hungry anymore and we could be bloated but still hungry if we eat too fast. this is not a theory anymore, research "eating slowly".
The problem of keeping food hot at the table has been tried to be solved in restaurants by pre heating regular plates that are not designed to store heat (They get very hot but release heat too fast). At homes very few people pre heat plates, it is not very practical (Handling a hot plate is difficult).

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microwave oven
  • Heat retentive plate
  1. Step 1
Heat Retentive Plate in a full size (1200W) microwave oven

Take the HOT plate out of the oven by the rim with the bare hands (The rim DOES NOT get hot)

  3. Step 3
Serving the food always handling with the bare hands

Serve the hot food as usual and enjoy. The plate will remain HOT even AFTER 30 MINUTES to keep your food warm; it is designed to release heat slowly. Remember: the plate can be handled safely by the rim with the bare hands

Tips & Warnings
  • The center of the plate -where the food goes- and the bottom are very hot be careful
  • The use of an individual table cloth is recommended (Do not use plastic)
  • DO NOT overheat the plate however if you own a small 700-800 Watt oven you may have to preheat it for 1:15 or 1:20 minutes
  • You can of course Pre heat food on the plate however you will need to add pre heating time depending on the temperature and quantity of food DO IT GRADUALLY and monitor constantly to avoid overheating
  • Not recommended for babies or unattended sick people
  • Handle carefully as you would handle any hot object

on 2/8/2010 If you keep your food hot on the plate you can acquire the habit of eating slowly, giving your system time to realize that you are not hungry anymore (About 15 to 20 minutes)and avoid overeating
