Give straight hair an ultra sleek look with hair gel. Gently detangle freshly shampooed hair with a comb. Place a quarter-sized amount of gel into the palm of one hand. Rub your hands together and then rub your hands over your hair, spreading the gel. Comb through your hair again to evenly distribute the gel throughout the strands. Use a handheld blow dryer with a diffuser attachment to dry your hair while combing your hair one section at a time until dry. The finished hairstyle will be smooth and shiny.

Add definition and shine without frizzing naturally curly hair. Distribute no more than a tablespoon of gel throughout wet, naturally curly hair. Blot excess moisture from your hair with a towel (without using friction). Use your fingers to comb through your hair, making sure that all of your hair is lightly coated with the hair gel. Allow your hair to air dry, or use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment to dry your hair without using a hair comb.

Use hair gel to create romantic curls. Part your clean hair (damp or dry) into sections with a hair comb. Apply gel to each section and comb through once. Roll the section of hair onto a large roller. Repeat until all of your hair is rolled securely. Allow your hair to dry naturally or use a "bonnet style" hairdryer. Remove the rollers from your hair once the gel has dried. Style your hair with your fingers or comb through very lightly to loosen the curls slightly. For tighter, ringlet curls, use smaller rollers.

Create a casual look to flat ironed hair. Evenly distribute hair gel throughout your hair's strands with your fingers. Use a comb to separate your hair into sections. Comb through a section to detangle it and flat iron the section of hair. When you approach the end of the section, rotate your wrist ¼ turn to flip up the ends of your hair. Repeat with the other sections of hair until all of your hair has been styled.

Tips & Warnings
When creating a hairstyle that will be combed or brushed after gel has been applied, make sure the gel you use is an alcohol-free formula that provides a flexible hold. Not only will you avoid breaking hair strands and damaging the hair, but your finished style will move naturally and be soft to the touch.
