It fits any 750 ml bottle of wine and is a practical way to use up a partial skein you may have left over from another project. The band of half double crochet in the middle lends visual interest while keeping the design simple and straightforward, so you can complete the whole thing in an afternoon or less.

• 4 oz. (113 g) 4-ply acrylic worsted weight yarn
• Size G crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Scissors

Instructions

Wine Bottle Holder

1. Abbreviations used in this pattern:
   Rnd: Round
   Ch: chain
   Sc: single crochet
   Hdc: half double crochet
   Sl st: slip stitch
   St/sts: stitch/stitches

   Work in rounds without joining unless otherwise instructed.

   Mark the first stitch in each round.

   Finished size: 11 inches (28 cm) tall by 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) diameter

   Gauge:
   3 sc rounds = 1 inch (2.5 cm)
   2 hdc rounds = 1 inch (2.5 cm)

2. Rnd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook (6 sc).

3. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc).

4. Rnd 3: 2 sc in each sc around (24 sc).

5. Rnd 4: [sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] around (32 sc).

6. Rnd 5: [sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] around (40 sc).

7. Rnd 6: working in back loop only, sc in each sc around (40 sc).

8. Rnds 7-12: repeat Rnd 6.

9. Rnd 13: working in back loop only, hdc in each sc around (40 hdc).

10. Rnds 14-22: repeat Rnd 13.

11. Rnd 23: working in back loop only, sc in each hdc around (40 sc).

12. Rnds 24-36: repeat Rnd 23.

13. Rnd 37: ch 2. [Skip 2 sts, hdc in next st, ch 2] around (13 ch spaces). Join with sl st in top of first ch-2. Fasten off.

14. For the tie, ch 96. Sl st in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off.

15. Weave in all ends.

16. Insert wine bottle. Weave tie through the ch spaces of Rnd 37. Gather at the neck of the bottle and tie a bow.

Tips & Warnings

• Start threading the tie from the back (where you joined with a sl st). Make sure the center of the tie lines up with the center back of the wine bottle holder before you weave the ends to the front. That will make it easier to have equal lengths of the tie in front.

• Be sure to use a yarn needle and not a sewing needle. A sewing needle's sharp tip could snag yarn fibers.
