This article is for all of the members on MySpace who are either completely new to the site, or just want to know how to change their layout. I’m going to go step by step on how to find a layout, how to make sure that it works, and I'll make it easy to understand. Once you know the basic steps, this is a simple process.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When you’ve finally decided to change or get a layout for your MySpace, whether you be an old member or brand new to the whole idea, the very first step is to make sure that you’re actually logged into your account. This can easily be done by simply going to myspace.com and finding where it says “Log In.” That will be found on a tab, next to another one labeled “Sign Up.” If you have troubles logging in, make sure that your password and E-Mail address are correct.

  2. Step 2

Once you’ve successfully logged into your account, you should see a bar on the top of your page. It’s under the advertisement and generally says “Home,” “Mail,” “Profile,” “Friends,” etc… The one that you want is “Profile.” There should be an arrow on the right hand side of it. You can click “Edit Profile” and it’ll bring you to the very first page that helps you to edit your profile. If you’re homepage is set up differently than how I’ve described it, you should be able to find where it says “Edit Profile,” it’s next to your picture (or where your picture would go), and can be found on the right hand side of it, located in a blue box.

  3. Step 3

The very first thing that you’ll want to do is find where it reads “About Me” (it’ll be in bold letters). If you’ve already got codes that are there, you’ll need to find your old layout code and then highlight it and delete it. You don’t want to delete anything else, I’m sure. If you’re new to MySpace, then great; you shouldn’t have any codes what-so-ever in that section.

  4. Step 4

Now it’s on to finding a layout that you like! Now, when it comes to this part of the whole process, people usually want a layout that fits them, their mood, or something that they find interesting. (An example of that might be anything from your religious views to Phineas and Ferb). You also might want to double check and see if there actually is a layout for what you want, sometimes it’s not a very great idea to be too picky.

  5. Step 5

Next you’ll want to find a good website that has many options to choose from. Pyzam.com is (in my opinion), a very good website. If you decided to use Pyzam, you need to find where it says “MySpace Layouts.” That can be found in a dark-blue box on the left hand corner of the site. Once you’ve found that, just click on it. Once the new page has loaded a bunch of different categories will be visible. You can either click on one that grabs your attention, or you can simply find the search bar. This will always be found under “Site Search” and is really easy to use. Simply type in what you want, select what kind of layout you want, and then click on “Search” or press the “Enter” button.

  6. Step 6

Okay, have you finally found the perfect layout for you? Great! The very first thing that you’ll want to do is preview it and make sure that you really like the layout. Is it cool enough, does it describe you, does it send the message that you want, is it pretty enough? (If you happen to be girl, then you’ll generally want it to be pretty). Once you’ve made sure that the layout is perfect for you, you’ll need to press the red “X” in the top right hand corner of the page, and then click on the picture of the layout. (This will bring you to a whole new page).

  7. Step 7

The next step is to double check to make sure that you’re using the correct code. There should be text that says “MySpace 1.0 Profile Code,” and right under that you’ll find a picture of this basic layout along with yet another advertisement. Then you just simply right click anywhere in the box (sometimes you’ll have to copy the code by left clicking on the first word and scrolling all the way down until you’ve got the whole thing highlighted), then you click on “Copy” and go to the page where you were editing your page before.

  8. Step 8

Once you’ve gone back to the MySpace editing page just click in the “About Me” section and paste the whole entire code, and then you click on “Save Changes.” Remember to never mess with anything in the layout code unless you’re very good with HTML or CSS. Sometimes after you click on the “Save Changes” button, a little box with random numbers and letters will come up. Follow the directions and type in the code for verification. (These things are case sensitive, so make sure that what you’re typing will match the picture given above.)
