Every surround sound system, however, comes with five or more speakers and an additional sub-woofer, sometimes making speaker placement difficult. Here are the steps it takes to mount surround sound speakers for streamlined aesthetics and optimal audio enjoyment.

  • Receiver Speakers Speaker Wire Speaker Mounts Power Drill w/ Phillips Head Attachment and Drill Bit Stud Finder Phillips Head Screwdriver Measuring Tape Pencil Wall Anchors and Screws

Instructions

    • 1

      Connect speaker wire to your speaker without connecting it to the receiver.

      Locate an in wall stud near the desired mounting area using a stud finder and mark it.

    • 3

      Measuring from the ground up, locate the desired height and mark the wall with your pencil.

    • 4

      Using your speaker mount as a guide, place the bottom of the mount on the previously made pencil mark. Line up the mount and make pencil marks in the screw holes.

      Drill holes in the wall where you made the screw hole marks and hammer in your wall anchors.

    • 6

      Screw the wall mount into the wall anchors and screw your speaker onto the wall mount.

    • 7

      Run the wires to the receiver and plug them in. Repeat the process for any other speakers you wish to mount.
