How to Make a Wood TV Tray
Wooden TV tray tables are easy to make because they are just two folding legs which can be purchased and attached to a piece of pre-cut mahogany. Probably the hardest part is screwing in the slide runner. This is a weekend project.

1
Have the lumber company cut the mahogany top to specification. Ask them to round the corners. Purchase the pre-made folding leg assembly.

2
Sand all pieces with medium and fine sandpaper. Remove all dust and particles with tack cloth. Use two or three coats of stain on all of the wooden pieces. Dry thoroughly. Then apply 2 or 3 coats of lacquer. Dry over night.

Drill a pilot hole and screw in the stationery end of the folding leg assembly. Always drop in a bit of wood glue before setting the screws. Measure the proper width of the slide assembly and attach to the underside of the mahogany top. The end of the runner must slide back and forth without binding or slipping.

Touch up the finish if necessary. Allow the tabletop to season for a few days before using it.
