Things You'll Need:
- standard or mini chocolate bars
- high-quality, high-resolution printing paper (glossy paper optional)
- clip art or pre-made candy bar templates
- glue stick or rubber cement
-
Step 1
Purchase basic, chocolate candy bars. Get a few more than you need, you will want to show these off! Only purchase candy bars that have an inside wrapper.
-
Step 2
Remove the outer wrapper only. Make sure the inside wrap is in good shape and intact.
-
Step 3
Make a small note with the real ingredients copied word-for-word from the original wrapper. Or, you may cut out the original ingredients. You can glue the ingredients to the inside of the wrapper you are going to create. Or, you can slide the ingredients inside the outer wrap. Another option is to tape the ingredients to the inside wrap, not touching the candy in any way. Of course, if you can find a place for the real ingredients on the outer wrap, that is the easiest to do.
-
Step 4
Find a website that offers candy bar templates. You can find some free candy bar templates. You can also find some templates that you can purchase if you want more options.
-
Step 5
Fill in the candy bar template with the desired photos and information. You can find some cute personalized candy bar ideas on the internet. Be creative.
-
Step 6
Get your candy bar wrapper art ready to print by setting your printer to landscape mode. This way you can print two wrappers at the same time. This will save money and time.
-
Step 7
Use basic, cheap copy paper to print your test page. Print out your wrapper in black and white. This will save you money on colored ink until you are sure you are ready to print your actual candy bar wrapper.
-
Step 8
Cut your wrapper to size and try it on your candy bar. Make any adjustments needed. Once you have it perfect, you can print your wrappers in color on the right paper.
-
Step 9
Trim your paper with a cutter. Although you can trim the wrappers with scissors, it will not have a professional look. Use a home office cutter or, if you are producing a lot of these, bring several hundred to your local printer and have them make the cuts. It shouldn't cost more than $3-$5 for cuts. The machine they have can cut up to 1,000 pieces at once.
-
Step 10
Wrap all candy bars and secure with very little rubber cement (just enough to hold it together, but not make it hard to open) or stick glue.
-
Step 11
Enjoy your very own homemade candy bar wrappers.
