How to Make a Faith Bracelet

Faith bracelets are a lovely daily reminder of your faith. Each colored bead on the bracelet symbolizes an aspect of the Christian faith. Blue stands for faith, pink for peace, red for love, green for blessings, black for courage and aqua for trust. Faith bracelets are easy to make, and can be made inexpensively, depending on the type of beads you choose.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the elastic beading thread for the bracelet by wrapping it loosely around your wrist one time.

    • 2

Add 2 extra inches to the amount of elastic beading thread you measured and cut it.

    • 3

Brush clear fingernail polish on to one end of the elastic beading thread, coating about 1/2 inch of the thread.

    • 4

Wait for the nail polish to dry.

    • 5

Thread the beads onto the elastic beading thread in any order or pattern you like, using the stiff end of the thread coated in nail polish to push through the bead.

    • 6

Center the beads on the thread by lifting both ends of the elastic thread and letting the beads slide toward the middle, away from the edges.

    • 7

Tie the ends of the elastic beading thread together in a basic overhand knot.

    • 8

Pull the ends of the knot, tightening it until the beads at each end of the strand come together, forming a circular bracelet.

    • 9

Tie another overhand knot over the first knot to secure the bracelet.

    • 10

Snip the remaining ends of the elastic thread close to the knot. Be careful not to accidentally cut the knot.

    • 11

Brush clear fingernail polish on the knot, applying liberally all around the knot and on the snipped ends of the thread.

    • 12

Wait for the nail polish to dry before wearing your bracelet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lay out the pattern for your bracelet in advance so you don't have to take beads back off the elastic thread if you decide you don't like the pattern.

  • Don't pull the elastic thread too tight when tying the knot. The elastic needs to be able to stretch when worn, and shouldn't be pulled completely tight.
