How to Make Popsicle Stick Dog Sleds
Most kids love to make things with their hands. A Popsicle stick dog sled is fun and easy to make. For those winter days when the kids can't go outside, making crafts is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Keep Popsicle sticks on hand for craft days.

1
Lay newspaper out on the table so glue and paint does not get on the surface. Paint the Popsicle sticks the color of your choice. Paint two pieces a different color from the rest. Paint the back and edges of all the sticks. Let them dry completely--from 30 minutes to overnight.
-
2
Cut a Popsicle stick in half. Glue two full-length Popsicle sticks beneath the two shorter sticks at the midway point for the runners.
-
-
3
Position the shorter Popsicle sticks on top of the runners. Glue four Popsicle sticks perpendicular to the shorter ones for the bed of the dog sled.
-
4
Make the backrest of the bed using the same method. Cut four Popsicle sticks in half. Lay the two shorter Popsicle sticks around an inch apart. Glue five shorter sticks between them. Let the glue dry completely.
-
5
Stand the backrest up and glue it to one end of the runners. Make a crossbar on each side of the sled for support. Glue two sticks from the front of the bed to the top of the backrest.
-
6
Make several small cuts in a Popsicle stick. Glue it upright from the crossbars to the sled's runners.
-
7
Cut a white pipe cleaner in half. Slightly bend both pieces. Glue one piece to the top of the backrest for the handlebar. Glue the other piece to the front of the sled for the brush bow.
