A 'Walkie Talkie' or 'telephone' game has been and still is made by using string and connecting two tin cans or paper cups. This self made 'walkie talkie' is still fun to use and easy and cheap to make. Some use it like a cellphone,or a telephone but all use it as a form of communication while each are in different rooms.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 empty tin cans or paper cups
  • thin cord or string
  • sharp pointed screw driver
  1. Step 1
    Tin can

    Tin can

Wash and dry two clean cheap tin cans. These are going to be the walkie talkies or telephones. Make a small hole in the center of each can making sure it has no sharp edges. It has to be large enough for the insertion of the string or cord, into each of the cans.

  2. Step 2
tin cans with string on each can

Push the string into each hole of the tin cans from the outside. Keep the string from slipping out by making a few knots in the ends. This will keep the string from slipping out of the cans when each person pulls their ''telephone'' or cellphone taut while you call someone and talk into it.

  3. Step 3
longer strings allow for a longer distance

Talk into the can to the person in another room or in another area. The longer the cord, you can be a long distance from someone you want to talk to. Pull the string tight as you talk into the can. You will be able to hear and speak to each other. This 'Walkie Talkie', was also called a telephone and used by children communicating with each other and having fun speaking to their friends.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the string or cord is tightly pulled or it will not work
  • This will not enable high quality talking
  • Kids can use this when meeting friends.
