How to Make a Pikachu Hoodie

Pokemon is still all the rage with young kids and teens, and wearing a Pikachu hoodie is one way to show you love Pokemon. Pikachu hoodies are easy to make, especially if you have a few sewing skills to begin with. But don't worry if are new to the world of sewing. This option will show you how to make a Pikachu hoodie with the greatest of ease that will have your child ready for battle before you know it.

Things You'll Need

• Yellow hoodie
• Yellow thread
• Sewing needle
• Yellow soft fabric
• Black knit fabric
• Red face paint
• Black face paint
• Disappearing ink pen
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Cut out two long triangles from the yellow soft fabric. This fabric can be mink-like or even flannel. These triangles will make the ears so cut them just a little bit longer than the length desired for the finished ears. Making the ears too long will result in floppy ears. Ears that are about 3 1/2 inches long, finished, are just right. Use the first triangle you cut as the template for the next one, making them uniform.

2. Take the black fabric and cut two triangles. These triangles should be the size of the top half of the yellow triangles. Again, cut the first triangle and use it as a template for the next.

3. Sew the black material onto the right side of each yellow triangle.

4. Fold one yellow triangle, right sides together, and sew together the sides. Repeat this step for the second triangle.

5. Turn the cylinder created by your sewing right side out. You may need to use a chopstick to turn the last pointed part out all of the way. That makes the ears.

6. Put the hoodie on the child and mark in disappearing ink where the ears will be sewn on. Place the ears toward the back of the head on either side.

7. Remove the hoodie from the child and hand-sew the ears to the hoodie.

8. Paint a small circle of black paint on the child's nose and red circles on the apples of the cheeks.

Tips & Warnings

• It is faster to use a machine for the making of the ears. Hand sewing is more accurate for attaching the ears to the hood. Use a large hoodie for this project. Adult clothing works well, so that it covers more of the child and results in a more realistic costume.
