How to Make Signs with Christmas Lights
Using Christmas lights as signs that spell out holiday greetings attract a lot of attention but are simple to construct. The trick is to use heavy-duty floral wire as a guide for the lights. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Christmas lights
- Clear tape or nails (depending on surface)
- Extension cords
- Heavy-duty floral wire

Arrange your lights at the area where they will be lit to determine extension cord placement. A short word such as "Merry" will require about 4 yards of lights.

Bend the floral wire to shape each word in a script so each letter flows together.

Cut four 2-foot pieces of floral wire and an end of each into a hook. Bend each piece in half.

Loop the hook on every two letters or until you are out of wire and stick the ends into the ground. These are your support wires for your lights.

Wrap the lights around the wire to illuminate the letters. You may need to use tape.

Attach the extension cords to their outlets and plug in.

If you are making a sign for your porch or window, follow steps 1 through 5. Then make a loop, with hooks at each end, from two 2-foot pieces of wire.

Pound two nails into the wall where you want to hang the sign. Arrange them wide enough apart to accommodate the sign.
