Waldorf salad is my husbands favorite salad. I like it a lot to! There are a lot of ways to make Waldorf salad. I like to use balsamic vinaigrette with blue cheese crumbles. I think it adds a nice bite to the classic salad. The celery adds a very nice crunch to the salad. You can use any kind of apple you like but I use one red and one green for a sweet and sour taste. My husband also likes this salad with honey mustard vinaigrette. You can change the dressing if you prefer another but I think that a sweet dressing goes best.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 red apple
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes
  • 3/4 cup glazed or candied walnuts
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce
  • 2 chicken breast baked and shredded
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 3/4 cup balsamic vinaigrette
  1. Step 1

To start your Waldorf salad you will want to cut and wash the romaine lettuce. I like to use a salad spinner to make sure I get all of the water out of the lettuce. You will need your lettuce very dry so the dressing sticks to your salad.

  2. Step 2

Wash and cut the red and green apples into thin slices. Wash the red seedless grapes and cut them in halves. Clean the celery and cut into slice.

  3. Step 3

In a medium bowl mix the cut and dried lettuce, red grapes, celery, apple slices, blue cheese crumbles, shredded chicken, glazed walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette. Make sure to toss the Waldorf salad very well. Serve immediately after mixing.
