How to Make a Beaded Belt

Save

Beaded belts are very fashionable in today's styles and can be worn with many different clothing outfits. If you enjoy beading and have at least novice experience making necklaces and bracelets, you might want to consider making a beaded belt. Most of this belt is comprised of seed beads, which are not expensive. By adding a few larger crystals for interest and a single dangle charm, you will finish with an attractive and stylish beaded belt.

Things You'll Need

  • Nylon Beading Thread
  • 1 Ounce Seed Beads (size 10) (any color or colors)
  • 50-60 Crystal Beads (8-10 mm)
  • Dangle Charm
  • 2 Clam Shell Crimps
  • Needle Nose Pliers
  • Scissors
  • Beading Needle
  • Beading Glue
  • Lobster Closure Clasp
  • 2 Jump Rings
  • Tape Measure
  • Cut a 65-inch to 70-inch piece of beading thread. Thread one end of the beading thread through the beading needle. Tie at least three overhand knots in the other end of the beading thread to make a knot that is too large to pass through a bead. Place a small dab of beading glue on the knot, allow the glue to dry, and place a clam shell crimp over the knot. Squeeze the clam shell crimp with the pliers to secure it.

  • Begin adding beads to the beading thread by placing them onto the needle and sliding them along the beading thread. Add 2 inches of seed beads and then a larger crystal bead.

  • Continue adding the 2-inch lengths of seed beads and the larger crystal beads nine times.

  • Add 1/2 inch of seed beads, the dangle charm and another 1/2 inch of seed beads. Thread the needle back through the beads until it's through the second-to-last large crystal bead to create a loop of beads.

  • Continue threading beads as before by alternating 2 inches of seed beads with a large crystal bead along the remaining beading thread.

  • Tie at least three knots in the end of the beading thread when all of the beads have been strung. Place a dab of beading glue onto the knot, allow the glue to dry and place a clam shell crimp over the knot. Squeeze the clam shell crimp with the pliers to secure it.

  • Open a jump ring with the pliers and place it on the loop of one clam shell crimp. Close the jump ring again.

  • Open the other jump ring with the pliers and place it on the loop of the other clam shell crimp. Place the loop of the lobster clasp onto the open jump ring and close the jump ring with the pliers to finish the belt.
