How to Attach Tulle Decorations to Wedding Tables

If you're planning to decorate your own wedding reception hall, one way to spruce up guest tables is to adorn them with tulle decorations. Draping tulle along guest and various reception tables, as well as the head table, is an affordable, elegant wedding decoration choice.

Things You'll Need

• Tulle fabric Heavy-duty safety pins Other embellishments (such as bows or flowers)

Instructions

1. Purchase your fabric. Gather your attendants for an afternoon at the fabric store. There are yards and yards of tulle fabrics available, ranging in price, width, embellishment (such as sparkles), fabric weight (simple netting to iridescent gossamer) and color. Purchase enough tulle for all of the reception tables that you want to adorn. It is always best to buy a little extra fabric for making tulle bows, other embellishments or for any other spaces that you decide to decorate.

2. Cut tulle into pieces that are long enough to achieve the drape you desire on each table.

3. Gather the fabric of each piece of tulle into small bunches every 10 to 15 inches. Wrap those bunches with floral wire. (For an added touch, secure flowers, bows or other embellishments into the tulle "bunch" while you are wrapping it with floral wire. Brides often choose to accent another wedding color into this mix.)

4. Secure each tulle bunch to the table using heavy-duty safety pins. Place each tulle bunch in subsequent "peaks" along each table to achieve an up-and-down, gentle draping.

Tips & Warnings

• String white lights throughout your tulle fabric to achieve a twinkling effect in your table drapes. Glue or hand-stitch artificial flower petals to your tulle fabric for a serene, Victorian look. Instead of using safety pins to secure tulle drapes, purchase bouquet table clamps that simply grip your fabric to the underside of tables. Place your bridal bouquet into a small holder located at the top of the clamp for an instant table decoration. Bouquet table clamps are available at most DIY stores for about $8. Enlist the help of your wedding party. It is much easier to secure tulle to wedding tables when you have plenty of helpers!
