How to Make a Directory on Your Hard Drive
As you add files to your computer, it can become more difficult to locate the file you are looking for. The easy way to organize files is to make one or more separate directories on your hard drive for similar files. These directories can be named for individual clients or for poetry, short stories, recipes or other recognizable category names. Making a directory can be accomplished with a few clicks of the mouse and the use of a keyboard.

Tips & Warnings
You can make a new directory within other directories, such as "My Documents," "Word Docs" or "Writing." This makes it simple to find any document you may be looking for. Some programs default to their own installed directories when saving documents. This is where the "Save As" feature comes in handy as you can easily change where the document will be saved. A new directory can also be made from the DOS prompt by typing "md directory name" at the "C:" prompt on the screen.
