How to Make a Brochure in Microsoft Works
With the advances in desktop publishing software, it is now easier than ever to create your own materials to promote your your group or business. Making your own brochure can be an inexpensive way to get the word out to the public about the services you provide or events you have planned. Most newer computers with a Microsoft Windows operating system have small-scale versions of MS Office programs listed under Microsoft Works.

Notice the Task Pane to the right of the screen.
In Microsoft Works, select "New" to launch the Task Pane. If your MS Works Word Processor automatically has a Task Pane to the right of the screen, you can also click once on the "Browse Templates" option.

Make certain that the "Works Word Processor" is selected under the "Choose a Program" field on the Task Pane window.

Double-click on the brochure template you want to use. The template will launch in the MS Works Word Processor window. MS Works has at least four preformatted brochure templates loaded into the software. You can change the pictures to match your needs. As an example, I'm going to use the "Half-Fold Toys" template and turn it into a brochure for a youth football league.

Click once on any picture you want to replace, and then press the "Delete" key.

Click once on the "Insert" menu option.

Select the picture from the file you want to insert.

Adjust the picture to the desired size. Just click once on one of the small squares on the picture border, and drag while holding the mouse button.

Move the picture to the desired location. Right-click on the picture and select "Format Object." From the "Wrapping" tab, select "Square." This will allow you to move the picture around.

Type in your desired text. The brochure template will have preformatted text for you to type over. Simply double-click on the existing text and begin typing the replacement text. You can change the appearance of the text by highlighting it and selecting a new font, font size and color.

Save your document. From the "File" option, select "Save As." Choose a folder and name your brochure.
