Things You'll Need:
- Money
-
Step 1
Decide what kind of player are. Are you an experienced player looking to play gigs as much as possible? Are you a seasoned player who plays every now and then? Or are you a beginner who is looking to learn in your room? It is important to not fall for the myth that when you buy a guitar you are paying for the brand name. I have been playing guitar for over 6 years and I can assure you the high end brand names such as Gibson, PRS, Taylor and Martin. If you purchase a guitar from one of these manufacturers you are paying for quality! Even the untuned ear can hear the drastic difference in sound.
-
Step 2
Shop around! The only way to hear the difference in guitars is to play as many as you possibly can! Go to a store such as Guitar Center and look at their inventory. Try and play each guitar through the same amp with the same settings so you can hear how each guitar truly sounds compared to the others you played before.
-
Step 3
Pick one the best suits you! If you are going to learn and play in your room the I wouldn't spend anymore than $250 on a guitar. However, if you are planning to play out regularly then spend as much as you can it will make the difference!
