How to Make a Christmas Gift Basket for a Fisherman

When making a gift basket for a fisherman, solicit ideas from your local fishing store. Start with a fishing basket and fill it with things like bait, lures, hooks and other fun items. Browse your local drugstore or craft store for inexpensive items that have a fish theme.

Things You'll Need

• Wicker fishing basket Red fabric bow Silk cattails Fishing line Fishing lures, hooks and bait Other fishing items

Instructions

1. Pick out a wicker fishing basket to start with. You can also use a tackle box, fishing vest, backpack or even a bucket. See resources below for online information.

2. 

   If the person doesn't have a pole, include that also. If using a fishing vest, place items in the pockets. Include fun items that have a fish theme, such as a travel mug, deck of cards, fish-shaped candy, a hat, writing pen or key chain.

3. Finish the gift basket by placing a few silk cattails in the basket. Tie a red ribbon around the handle of the basket and attach a gift card with--you guessed it, a fish on it.
