If you have ever done any kind of sewing project, you have probably noticed that by the time you are done, you have accumulated a plethora of little discarded pieces of fabric. Rather than let these pieces go to waste, why not put these scrap pieces to work in a collage? Collage is an art form that involves using an assemblage of separate materials to create one new visual. Fabric is a great option for these collages because they come in a variety of colors, materials and prints that will give built-in interest, dimension and texture to your collage.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrap fabric
  • Cardboard or canvas
  • Sewing machine or hot glue
  • Spray adhesive
  1. Step 1

Gather up the scraps of fabric, regardless of color, material or print type.

  2. Step 2

Arrange the fabric on a flat surface to determine what kind of picture you would like to create.

  3. Step 3

Cut the pieces of fabric as necessary into different shapes to create the desired collage design.

  4. Step 4

Stitch your little pieces of fabric together using a sewing machine. If this is too involved of a collage to be done on a sewing machine, opt for hot glue instead. It might not hold as well, but it will take a lot less time.

  5. Step 5

Use spray adhesive to affix the fabric collage to a piece of cardboard or stretch over a canvas.

  6. Step 6

Frame if you desire and hang it up to display.
