Do you want to avoid buying hair accessories? Do you have a specific color or look that you want in a hair clip? Make your own clip-on hair bows quickly and cheaply at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Acquire ribbon and empty hair clips. There are several types of clips to choose from. Craft stores like Michael's sell empty barrettes and ribbon. Stores that supply hair products to hair dressers also have empty barrettes. If you want a smaller bow and clip, you could use the plain silver snap clips that come in multi-packs. These are available anywhere hair products are sold. Similarly, with a larger bow, you could use alligator clips. These are also available cheaply at any drugstore or mass retailer like Target.

  2. Step 2

Cut the ribbon to a desired length. Tie it into a secure bow, in whatever style you'd like. Double knot it if it looks okay to do so.

  3. Step 3

Let the hot glue gun heat.

  4. Step 4

Put a dab of hot glue on the knot of the bow.

  5. Step 5

Press the bow onto the clip in the desired location.

  6. Step 6

If you'd like the bow to lay flat, you can hot glue the sides to the clip as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful with the hot glue gun, especially if children are helping with this project.
