How to Reduce Swollen Fingers

Edema is the medical term for the condition that occurs when fluid accumulates in a part of the body where it doesn't belong. Swollen fingers due to edema can be caused by a wide variety of things, including allergies, PMS, pregnancy and kidney problems.

Things You'll Need:

  • Raw Food
  • Alfalfa
  • Bromelain
  • Food Enzymes
  • Hand Lotions
  1. Step 1

    Increase your intake of raw foods. A high-fiber diet is important.

  2. Step 2

    Up your protein intake. Edema can be caused by inadequate protein intake and absorption.

  3. Step 3

    Decrease salt intake and limit intake of salty foods.

  4. Step 4

    Avoid alcohol, caffeine and pickled foods.

  5. Step 5

    Exercise daily.

  6. Step 6

    Take hot baths or saunas twice a week.

  7. Step 7

    Supplement your diet with alfalfa, dandelion root and parsley. These can be taken in capsules, as a tea or a tincture.

  8. Step 8

    Take a free-form amino acid complex. This is helpful if your edema is caused by poor protein absorption.

  9. Step 9

    Add a high-potency B-complex supplement. Take extra B6, 50mg. It helps reduce water retention.

  10. Step 10

    Take bromelain. It's an enzyme that helps digestion and allergies. Bromelain is useful if your swelling is due to allergies.

  11. Step 11

    Get tested for food allergies. Allergy is the most common reason for retaining fluids.
