How to Make Liquid Potpourri

Why pay money for liquid potpourri? Making your own liquid potpourri is easy and can be made from ingredients that you already have in your spice cabinet or backyard garden. Create a heavenly scent in your home year-round with this easy potpourri recipe.

Things You'll Need

• 1 tsp whole cloves
• 1 tsp allspice
• 1/2 tsp nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp rubbing alcohol
• peelings of 1 orange or 1 tbsp dried orange peel
• peelings of 1 lemon
• 3 cups water
• small bowl
• small saucepan

Instructions

Making Liquid Potpourri

1. Combine the spices and peelings in a small bowl.

2. Add the water and rubbing alcohol, mixing thoroughly.

3. Pour potpourri into a small saucepan.

4. Place saucepan on stove and heat on medium until it comes to a boil, lower heat until mixture simmers.

5. Stir occasionally.

6. Check water level every hour or so, add more water as needed.

Tips & Warnings

• Change the recipe as the seasons change. Omit the spices and add flower petals in the spring and summer. In the winter, add pine needles or apple fragrance.
