Things You'll Need:
- Human hair weave
- Shampoo
- Rubber bands
- Needle and thread
- Hair glue
-
Step 1
Wash the hair before you start the weave. Part the hair in the style the person receiving the weave wants it. Weaves are designed to stay in the hair for a significant amount of time, so the hair needs to be clean when you do the weave.
-
Step 2
Decide where to place the weave in the hair. Most hair weaves are put in on the bottom under the top layer of hair. Pull the layer of hair above where the weave will go up into a ponytail. Place a rubber band around it to hold the ponytail in place. If the weave is not being sewn in at the bottom of the hair, separate the bottom hair into a small ponytail. Leave a 2-inch strip of hair around the scalp that is not in a ponytail.
-
Step 3
Start on the right side of the head and French braid the hair, not in the ponytail, as tightly as possible around to the back of the head. Clip it or put a rubber band in it to hold it still. Move to the left side of the head and French braid that side of the hair as well in the same manner. If the hair is short, combine the two braids. If the hair is long, place the hair in a ponytail and tuck it over the top of the braid so the hair hangs under the braid.
-
Step 4
Take your human hair weave, unroll it and line it up with the top of the braid. Sew the weave into the braid with a needle and thread. The weave has a strip at the top connecting all of the hair together. Pull the needle and thread over that and then under the braid, then back up from the bottom of the braid. Continue this around the head in a criss-cross pattern. The weave needs to be tight to the head. Tie a knot in the string at the end of the to hold the weave in place.
-
Step 5
Maintain the weave with hair glue. If the weave begins to work its way loose, run a line of glue at the top of the weave and press the weave down onto the braid.
-
Step 6
Take the hair out of the ponytails and brush the hair out. Straighten the part that you made before and style the hair.
