How to Make a Wedding Memento Box
-
1
Purchase the round boxes at a craft supply store; they are often sold as a nested set. The largest box should be at least 8 inches in diameter. Stack the boxes to determine how they will fit together. Center each box, then trace around the bottom of the smaller boxes with a pencil.
-
2
Glue the bottom of each box to the lid of the box below it, using white glue. Let dry thoroughly.
-
3
Paint the box tower white and let dry. Use additional paint to decorate it to resemble a wedding cake.
-
4
Glue on additional silk flowers, ribbons and lace.
-
5
Fill the box with small items from your wedding, such as the cake topper, the handkerchief you used to dry your tears, and the silver sixpence from your shoe. Add a sample of a favor or table decoration. You can also store wedding cards and invitations in the box, if you're not making a scrapbook.

Tips & Warnings
Saving one sample of each favor or ribbon from your wedding can make it easier to give the rest away.
When a friend or young relative is planning a wedding, you can loan them a keepsake from the box to use in their own ceremony as "something borrowed." (For the "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" tradition.)
Store your decorative wedding memento box on a bookshelf to keep it dust-free.
Don't store rice, wedding cake, or anything perishable in your memento box.
