How to Create a Stylish Ponytail

  1. Step 1

Start it right by brushing the hair very good. This is better if the hair is damp. Then rub a dab of hair thickener through your hair as this will give it good grab and more body.

  2. Step 2

Tie your hair back. Position your ponytail about two inches above the nape of your neck. If you go higher you will look like a cheerleader and any lower and your hair will look flat. Spray some hairspray on your hands and pat down any fly away hairs.

  3. Step 3

Try a deep side part if you want something a bit softer and a bit more romantic. Using your comb, create a part about an inch or so above your ear. Smooth hair down toward the ears and then back towards the nape of your neck. Do this with the brush. If you have bangs then brush them off to the side.

  4. Step 4

Straighten your hair first if it is not already straight. If possible use a boar bristle brush because it will make your hair glossy.

  5. Step 5

Invert the ponytail for a very elegant look by simply creating the ponytail. Pull the hair band down just a tiny bit. From the top down poke your finger through the hair creating a hole. Pull the ponytail up and slide it through the hole. It will create a very unique hairstyle and also hide the hair band too!

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid bright colored hair bands that stand out.
  • Stay with neutral colors or just black.
