Learn how to set the time zone if you have Microsoft Office Outlook on your computer. This is especially helpful if you travel for business or you have to schedule a meeting with a colleague who lives in a different time zone.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Install Outlook onto your computer if you don't already have it, then open the program. The time zone and daylight savings time feature should be set by default according to the operating system.

  2. Step 2

Go to "Tools" at the top of the main screen, then scroll down to "Options." The pop-up window should open to the "Preferences" tab.

  3. Step 3

Pick "Calendar Options" from the "Preferences" tab and adjust the settings under this option, if necessary. Check the days that you want to designate as the work week. Choose the first day of the week or the first week of the year along with a start and end time. You can even allow colleagues to propose new meeting times if there is a scheduling conflict.

  4. Step 4

Stay on the "Calendar Options" window, and go to "Advanced Options" at the bottom. Click on "Time Zone." A new pop-up window appears for setting the time zone.

  5. Step 5

Enter a label for the time zone, such as "Work" or "Meeting." Pick from an endless list of time zones from the drop-down menu, whether it's Eastern Standard Time, Pacific Time, Greenland Time or Cairo Time depending where you live. The current time should already be updated. Check "Adjust for Daylight Saving Time," then "OK."
