Instructions

  1. Getting Started

    • 1

Brush your hair into a low ponytail using a soft-bristled brush. Twist a hair elastic around the base of the ponytail about three times to secure hair.

    • 2

Divide the ponytail into three equal sections.

    • 3

Hold the left section securely under your pinkie and ring fingers of your left hand. Hold the middle section against your pinkie and ring fingers, placing your middle and index fingers on top. Hold the right section in your right hand.

    Braid Away

    • 4

Transfer the middle hair section to your right hand grasping with your thumb, index and middle fingers.

    • 5

Bring the left hair section under the middle section, transferring it to your right hand temporarily, holding it between your middle and ring fingers while you move the middle section over to the left and transfer it to your left hand.

    • 6

Move the middle section back to your left hand. You'll now be grasping the left section under your pinkie, ring, and middle fingers and the middle section between your index finger and thumb.

    • 7

Bring the right section under the middle section and grasp with your thumb and middle finger of your left hand. The middle hair section will be resting on top of your middle finger and under you index finger held securely in place by pressing the pads of your index finger and thumb together. Move the middle section to your right hand.

    • 8

Transfer what is now the middle section to your right hand, grasping it between your middle and index fingers, pressing the pads of your index finger and thumb together.

    • 9

Repeat Steps 5 through 8 until you've braided the entire length of your ponytail.

    • 10

Secure the bottom of your reverse braid with a hair elastic, leaving about 1/2 inch of hair at the bottom.
