  1. Step 1

Choose a design to make your friendship bracelet. You can create friendship bracelets with various colors, threads and patterns. To create the most simple friendship bracelet with beads, all you will need is a piece of elastic string and beads.

  2. Step 2

Cut your thread so that it will fit your friend's wrist. Measure your own wrist to get an idea of what size your friend's wrist is if you are surprising them with the bracelet. Be sure to make the string a bit longer than needed.

  3. Step 3

Select the beads that you want to use to create your friendship bracelet. Think about a pattern that you want to create. Lay out the beads according to your plan. Use your friend's favorite color for the beads.

  4. Step 4

Knot your thread or elastic string so that the beads will not fall off. Be sure the knot is thick and double-knot the string just to be sure.

  5. Step 5

Begin to string your beads slowly onto the piece of string. Work very cautiously so that you do not make errors when creating your friendship bracelet.

  6. Step 6

Tie the friendship bracelet when you are done. You may use a bracelet fastener to create a more finished look, or you can just knot the two ends together.
