How to Dress Up Like a Cop

If you really want people to respect your authority at your next costume party, dress up like cop. The best part about this costume is that if anyone tries to steal your drink or disrupt the party, you can handcuff them and throw them outside. They don't even have to know your handcuffs are a toy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Navy blue pants
  • Navy blue button down shirt
  • Iron-on letters
  • 2 iron-on, shield-shaped patches
  • Wide black leather belt
  • Holster
  • Toy guns
  • Handcuffs
  • Billy club
  • Policeman's hat
  • Mirrored sunglasses
  • Fake badge

Step1
Find a pair of navy blue pants and a button-down shirt that matches the pants exactly. The shirt should have at least one breast pocket, but two would be better. The most convincing material would be a heavy knit cotton or polyester.
Step2
Attach the word "POLICE" across the upper back of your shirt, with white iron-on letters and attach some iron-on badges to both sleeves. (Any shield-shaped patches will do, just make sure they look official from a distance.)
Step3
Put on a pair of shiny, black leather boots. They should be comfortable and easy to run in, just in case you need to chase down a "perp."
Step4
Wear both a black belt and a holster around your waist and slip a couple of toy guns into the holster.
Step5
Buy some toy handcuffs and a billy club. Hang them from either your holster or your belt.
Step6
Don a policeman's cap. If you can't find a real one, a costume knock-off will work just fine.
Step7
Complete the outfit with a pair of mirrored sunglasses and a toy metal badge and your look is complete.
