Solid perfumes can be more convenient to carry than traditional perfume, which can spill in your purse, gym bag or car. You can create virtually any scent using natural essential oils or fragrance oils to create a softer, chemical-free perfume that is as easily created as it is carried.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Melt 3 tbsp. of extra virgin or cold pressed almond oil and 2 tbsp. of white beeswax slowly in a double boiler. Heat the wax and oil mixture slowly over low heat, taking care not to overheat. Excess temperature can destroy the natural healing elements in the oil, change the scent or discolor the oil. The mixture should never get too hot to touch.

  2. Step 2

Remove from heat and stir constantly, allowing the wax and oil to cool slightly. Add your fragrance oils or essential oils. If you are using fragrance oils, add 1 tbsp., or if you are using essential oils, add 10 to 15 drops of one or a combination of oils.

  3. Step 3

Carefully spoon your natural perfume into small containers. This mixture will only make between 5 and 6 tbsp. You can purchase small tins especially designed for homemade solid perfume, lip gloss and balms, or you can reuse old tins, small glass jars or even chap stick tubes.

  4. Step 4

Allow your natural beeswax perfume to cool completely before sealing. Enjoy your custom perfume, or give it away as a special handmade gift. Enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never heat beeswax in a standard saucepan or in the microwave, as it is flammable when exposed to direct heat.
  • If you are pregnant, consult an aromatherapist or specialist when choosing essential oils and fragrance oils.
