How to Use the iPhone Camera

The built-in camera is another one of the many features of the Apple iPhone. The two-megapixel camera allows you to take pictures in portrait or landscape format. Then, you can store them, email them, use them as wallpaper on your phone's interface or send them to a computer.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Tap the "Camera" button on your iPhone's interface. This button is identified by a lens icon on the main menu.

  2. Step 2

    Choose an image or person that you want as the subject of your photo. View the camera on the back of your iPhone so that you can focus and take the right picture.

  3. Step 3

    Aim the iPhone in the direction of your desired photo, then tap the camera icon on the back after you've pressed the main "Camera" button to shoot the photo. The picture automatically saves in the "Photos" option on your phone. Hold the iPhone sideways if you want a landscape picture. Hold the phone upright if you want to take a portrait-style photo.

    Review your pictures by going to the "Photos" button from the main menu. Then, tap "Camera Roll" to see how your photos appear. Move your finger left or right to see the next photo. You can also tap on the "Camera Roll" screen to display the left- or right-arrow controls.

  5. Step 5

    Delete a picture from your iPhone if you're not satisfied with it. In "Camera Roll," tap on an unwanted picture, then press the trash can icon to erase it.

  6. Step 6

    Look at photos from your computer. Select "Photos" from the main menu, then touch the "Photo Library." View all of your photos from your computer's photo album. Go to "Camera Roll" if you only want to look at iPhone pictures.

  7. Step 7

    Tap twice on a photo if you want to zoom in on part of it. To zoom out of the photo, double-tap on it again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select a photo to use as a wallpaper on your iPhone main menu screen. Choose a photo from the "Camera Roll" menu, then tap the options icon. Pick "Use As Wallpaper." Resize your photo if needed, then tap "Set As Wallpaper."
  • Pick another photo to email to friends or family. Choose the options icon again, then touch "Email Photo." Make sure that you have an email account for your iPhone before sending photos.
