How to Turn Old Clothes into Doll Clothes
We all come across clothing in our wardrobes from time to time that we just won't wear anymore. Maybe they don't fit, or they've gone out of style. Sometimes there's a rip or a stain that renders them unwearable. With a little sewing, the usable pieces of fabric can be salvaged and turned into lovely doll clothes. - Old clothes
- Straight pins

Measure the doll for which you are making clothes. You should start by measuring from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Most dolls are produced in a standard set of sizes, so this gives you a good start in finding your pattern.

Consider the body type of the doll. Your pattern options vary based on width and shape. Varieties include baby, small child with little waist definition, adult figure dolls and fashion dolls.

Select your pattern. Doll clothing patterns are available for free at some websites, and for purchase as individual patterns or in book collections. Most patterns specify the size and body type for which they are made. If you match this to the information you already have about the doll, you're sure to have doll clothes that fit.

Select your fabric. Simply sort through the old clothes that you no longer wear, and chose fabrics to suit the doll clothes you are making. Be sure the fabric you choose has enough flat space to fit the pattern pieces.
