Indian corn jewelry is pretty and has the look of polished stone pieces. You can make this jewelry as a family project with your kids. Follow these steps to create your own Indian corn jewelry.

From Quick Guide: Fall into Autumn
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ cup dried Indian corn kernels
  • Small bowl
  • Water
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Thimble
  1. Step 1

Fill a small bowl with water.

  2. Step 2

Pour half a cup of dried Indian corn kernels into the bowl of water and let them soak overnight or until they are soft.

  3. Step 3

Cut a piece of string long enough to make a necklace or bracelet. Thread a needle with string and tie a knot at the end.

  4. Step 4

Place a thimble on the middle finger of your dominant hand to help you thread your necklace without hurting your fingers.

  5. Step 5

Push the needle through each soft kernel of Indian corn. Use the thimble to push the kernel through. Thread enough kernels to make it long enough for your necklace or bracelet.

  6. Step 6

Tie both ends of the string together once you get the necklace or bracelet to the desired length. Set the necklace on a flat surface to allow the kernels to dry and harden.

  7. Step 7

Wear your necklace or give it as a gift.

Tips & Warnings
  • When adding the kernels of corn to the string, thread the corn through randomly or create a pattern.
  • Add regular yellow kernels of corn to your jewelry to create beautiful necklaces and bracelets.

on 11/24/2009 Donac, you do not have to dye Indian corn. Indian corn are stalks that have a variety of colors on one stalk.
