With Adobe Photoshop, you can design a professional logo quickly and easily. A basic logo can be created by a simple combination of a shape and text, or you can use an image for your logo. After you have created a basic logo, you can begin to really design it by adding Photoshop effects to make it stand out and look great.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Create a Logo

  1. Step 1

Start Adobe Photoshop. Start a new Photoshop file.

  2. Step 2

Select the shape tool from the Photoshop toolbox to create shape for the back of your logo.

  3. Step 3

Add text on top of the logo, using the Type tool from the Photoshop toolbox. You will now have two layers in the Layers palette.

  4. Step 4

Merge the two layers together by selecting "Merge Visible" from the "Layer" menu. Notice that in your Layer palette you have one layer now, called Background.

  5. Step 5

Right-click on your Background layer and select "Layer From Background…" Name the layer and click OK on the dialog box. Now your logo is one layer and you can apply an effect to it.

  6. Bevel and Emboss a Logo

  7. Step 1

Go to the "Layer" menu and select "Layer Style." And, then choose "Bevel and Emboss…"

  8. Step 2

Select the style of bevel or emboss you would like and use the rest of the "Structure" settings to get the bevel or emboss exactly how you like it.

  9. Step 3

Use the "Shading" settings to add shading to your bevel or emboss.

  10. Step 4

Click on the word "Contour" on the left-hand side of the dialog box, under "Bevel and Emboss."

  11. Step 5

Change the contour and range to get the look you want for your logo.

  12. Step 6

Click the word "Texture" on the left-hand side of the dialog box.

  13. Step 7

Choose a pattern and change the scale and depth to reflect the type and size of pattern that you want to apply to your logo.

Tips & Warnings
  • The keyboard shortcut to merge all visible layers is SHIFT+CTRL+E.
  • If you can't see your Layers palette, select "Layers" from the "Window" menu or press the F7 key on your keyboard.
