Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Explore some of the sounds of the sixties before settling on the music to include in your party mix. A great way to do this is to go online and sample music at any number of sites, from Amazon to Yahoo, and decide which of the many sounds of the sixties is right for your groove.
Step2
Think Woodstock and then develop your music playlist based on the tunes from this historic sixties music event. There are so many great bands to choose from. If you want the acid rock sound, go for Jimi Hendrix or Jefferson Airplane.
Step3
Blend some mind-expanding music into the playlist. Try on the Doors for size. They offer rich lyrics, great rock beats and synthesizers, with a truly unique sound. Jim Morrison's original vocal stylings on the Doors' hits like "Light My Fire" and "The Crystal Ship" are amazing for a party mix.
Step4
Go for folk sounds. Janis Joplin offers rich blues stylings combined with a folk feel to make for an amazing musical offering. Also, get a hold of some Joan Baez. She enriches her folk music with beautiful vocals and a truly American sound of the sixties.
Step5
Incorporate some retro-styled contemporary sounds. Grab up some Lenny Kravitz or Neneh Cherry to add a modern spin on the traditional sixties style. Both Kravitz and Cherry do a fantastic job of incorporating the themes of sixties music.
