Things You'll Need:
- Paper
- Black pens
- Colored markers
-
Step 1
Go slow. It is better to take plenty of time while designing your tattoo than to end up with body art that you dislike.
-
Step 2
Start simple. Begin with a shape, letter or figure that has personal meaning for you.
-
Step 3
Add layers of meaning to your design as you work. Embellish your body art with letters and shapes that represent important people and events in your life.
-
Step 4
Try out different colors. Although your initial drawing will be in black and white, adding color will add life and emotion to your body art design.
-
Step 5
Ask for help. If you are unhappy with your drawing ability, take your ideas and sketches to an artist and let him help you with your body art design.
-
Step 6
Choose your tattoo parlor carefully. Look at samples of tattoos and inspect the cleanliness of the shop. Pay for the highest quality of body art available.
-
Step 7
Take good care of your new tattoo. Body art requires proper care in order to heal nicely and without infection. Keep the tattooed area clean and moisturized and leave the scabs alone.
