How to Set Up a VCR to Record Video from a Motion Sensor Security Camera

It is fairly simple to set up your VCR to record videos from your motion sensor security camera, as long as your camera has this capability. Some security cameras require a special adaptor for your VCR or a separate receiver. Each motion sensor security camera will have its own specific instructions, but here are some basic steps to follow.

Things You'll Need

• Owner's manual
• Motion sensor camera
• VCR

Instructions

1. Search the Internet for a copy of your camera's owner's manual if you don't have the original. Use the name and model of your camera and "manual" as search terms in an online search engine.

2. Follow the steps in the owner's manual to set up your VCR to record from a security camera.

3. Attach the proper cables to the RCA outlets on your VCR.

4. Be sure to insert each cable into the correct outlet.

5. Adjust the setting on your VCR to the recording speed you desire.

6. Insert a blank VCR tape into your VCR.

7. Test the connection. If properly installed, the VCR should record when the motion sensor on the security camera detects motion.
