How to Crochet Pot Holders
Pot holders reflect the imagination of the person crocheting them. They can be made in any style or color - the only thing to remember is make them thick so that you won't get burnt fingers.
Instructions
-
A Square-Shaped Pot Holder
-
1
Use a size J crochet hook and four-ply yarn.
-
2
Row 1: Chain (ch) 37.
-
-
3
Row 2: Turn and single crochet (sc) in the second stitch from the hook; sc in each stitch to the end of the row. Do not turn.
-
4
Row 3: Continue to sc along the bottom of the stitches just made. You are now working in a round.
-
5
Row 4-18: Sc around the piece. It will start to look like a pocket.
-
6
Fold in the middle to form four corners and slip stitch (sl st) closed to form a square.
A Tube-Shaped Pot Holder
-
7
Use a size H crochet hook.
-
8
Chain (ch) 19; turn and single crochet (sc) in the first stitch from the hook.
-
9
Row 1: Sc in each chain.
-
10
Row 2: Ch one; turn sc in each sc across 14 times.
-
11
Row 3: Sc both sides together forming a tube.
-
12
Decorate by making a sc in different single crochets in an irregular manner. This also gives added protection from the heat of the pot handle.
