How to Fix a Water Dispenser on an Amana Refrigerator
The water dispenser on your Amana refrigerator has several components that allow for the dispensing of ice and water into a glass. Constructed mainly of plastic, it is not uncommon to encounter a broken component in the dispenser after regular use of the refrigerator. When the dispenser fails, it is advantageous to perform the repair yourself, rather than hiring a service technician to repair your refrigerator, as doing so will not only prepare you to make future repairs, but also save you a great deal of money. Unplug the refrigerator's power cord from the wall outlet before beginning the repair.

Pull the drip tray straight out of the bottom of the ice dispenser and remove.

Remove the screws at the bottom of the dispenser cover on the front of the refridgerator, and then slide the cover up and remove. If there are no screws, Look on the bottom of the ice dispenser cover for the pry slot, which is a flat slot, large enough for the insertion of a flat-head screwdriver. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot and gently pry the cover off of the front of the housing.

Move the dispenser cover away from the dispenser housing, and then disconnect the wire connector or connectors, depending on the model of your refrigerator, connected to the rear of the interface, which is attached to the cover.

Depress the tabs or remove the screws on the interior of the interface, securing the interface to the cover. Remove the interface from the cover if replacing. Install the new interface by reversing the steps taken to remove the old one.

Remove the screws securing the dispenser assembly, if replacing the dispenser assembly or water actuator lever. Move the assembly away from the control housing, and disconnect the assembly wire connector or connectors, depending on the model of your refrigerator.

Remove the screws and brackets securing the water actuator lever or levers to the rear of the assembly, and then remove the water actuator lever or levers.

Transfer the water actuator levers to the new assembly, or install the new water actuator lever in the existing assembly, depending on your repair. Use the screws and brackets to secure the lever or levers to the assembly.

Reinstall the entire dispenser by reversing the steps taken to remove it from the refrigerator door.

Restore power to the refrigerator to complete the repair.
