How to Do 1950s-Inspired Makeup

Red lipstick was a trademark of the 1950s.

During the 1950s, women wore makeup that was classy and glamorous. They were often seen wearing winged eyeliner and red lipstick when they spent a night on the town. Whether you are dressing up as a '50s pinup girl for Halloween or just want a different look, create a 1950s-inspired look right at home.

Things You'll Need

• Foundation
• Concealer
• Powder
• Powder brush
• Rosy blush
• Blush brush
• Champagne eye shadow
• Eye shadow brush
• Black liquid eyeliner
• Eyelash curler
• Black mascara
• Lip primer
• Red lipstick
• Clear lip gloss

Instructions

1. Apply foundation to your face to even out your complexion. Add concealer to any imperfections, such as blemishes or under eye circles. Sweep powder over your foundation to set your makeup. Apply a rosy blush to the apples of your cheeks with a blush brush.

2. Put a champagne-colored eye shadow on your eyelids with an eye shadow brush. Apply liquid eyeliner to your upper lash lines, extending the line to just beyond the outer lash lines. Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler, and add a couple of coats of black mascara to your lashes.

3. Prepare your lips for red lipstick by applying a lip primer to your lips. If your skin is fair, wear a blue-based lipstick. If you have a more olive complexion, wear an orange-based lipstick. Add a clear lip gloss on top of the lipstick to make your lips shine.
